Nairobi, 29 December 2008 --- Orange Mobile continued to make inroads across Kenya last weekend with a colourful launch in Kisumu at the Jomo Kenyatta Grounds from 10.00 am to 6.00pm. Residents of the city at the lakeside were treated to entertainment by Osogo Winyo, Onyi Papa Je, Suzanne Owiyo, Jack Nyadundo and Jua Cali during the festivities.
Njeri Rionge, Head of Marketing, Mass Market and Customer Service for Telkom Kenya, said: “Our launch in Kisumu is an answer to calls from residents of Kisumu to bring our GSM service to the area. We are happy that we were able to deliver before the end of the year. As well as our expanding Orange Mobile service, our Orange Fixed Plus, Orange Broadband and Telkom Fixed services, mean that Telkom Kenya continues to have the most extensive coverage in Kenya.”
The Kisumu launch comes shortly after the launch of Orange Mobile in Nyeri earlier this month. Other towns covered by Telkom Kenya’s Orange Mobile network are: Nairobi, Mombasa, Nyeri, Lamu, Faza Island, Nakuru, Thika, Kenol, Makuyu, Sagana, Karatina, Kericho and Naivasha.
Telkom Kenya also plans to launch Orange Mobile in the following seven major towns by the end of December 2008: Eldoret, Kakamega, Nanyuki, Embu, Malindi, Garissa and South Coast.
Orange Mobile is available to subscribers on both pre-paid and post-paid options. There are currently several exciting offers available to Orange Mobile customers including ‘Jishtue’ - the most affordable handset in Kenya at just KES999, and ‘Pata Ziaada’, which allows subscribers to earn up to KES360 of airtime a week by simply receiving off net calls.
