NEMA: Report on New Lodge in Masai Mara
The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), has received an environmental impact assessment report for the proposed Sanguriali Lodge in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, a 15-20 luxury tented camp facility with a central building for hosting the diner, bar and reception. Members of the public can make any comments on the proposed lodge construction at Nema headquarters in Nairobi.
Ministry of Agriculture
The Minister of Agriculture, William Ruto, has
- given notice as from 2 January 2009, of his intention to declare cashew nuts as special crops.
- appointed Rosemary Mkok to be the Chief Executive and Secretary to the Board of the Kenya Sugar Board for a period of three years with effect from 15 December 2008. The appointment of the current CEO, Andrew Oloo Otieno, is revoked.
- banned the desert weed Prosopis Jjuliflora, commonly known as mathenge. The Minister declared the weed as a noxious weed in the whole of Kenya from 30 December 2008.
Ministry for Labour and Human Resources
The Minister for Labour and Human Resources, John Munyes, has made the following orders:
- Every employer who employs more than five members of the Kenya Union of Journalist and Allied Workers to deduct every month one percent of gross income per month of members in group one and two, KES2,000 per month for associate members and a sum of KES50 from the wages of every employee.
- Pay within ten days of the date of the deduction the total sums deducted by crossed cheque made payable to the Kenya Union of Journalists and Allied Workers, into the union’s account no. 230-645-411 at the Kenya Commercial Bank, Moi Avenue Branch.
- Pay within ten days of the date of deductions the total sums deducted by crossed cheque to the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (K) account no. 229-741-204 KCB branch Moi Avenue Branch.
- Notify the trade union and the organisation in writing one month of payment and,
- Make written returns to the Registrar of Trade Unions within one month of making all the payments to the trade union and to the organisation
Aviation License Applications
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has received 22 applications for various air services license. The applications are as follows:
