Appointments
The Minister of Energy, Kiraitu Murungi, has appointed Alex Kazongo to be members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Pipeline Company Ltd for a period of three years with effect from 13 March 2009.
The Minister for Public Health and Sanitation, Beth Mugo, has appointed Dr. Sopiato Likimani to be the chairman of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KeMRI) for three years. Dr Likimani was appointed with six other members to be board management of KeMRI.
Application for Special Mining License
Njenga Mining Company Ltd has made an application for a special license to prospect for gemstones in Kwale district in Coast province.
Proposed Construction of Mombasa Inland Container Terminal
The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment report for the proposed construction of Mombasa inland container terminal.
The proposed project will involve the construction of a container terminal. The proponent will remove the existing structures and play fields and construct office blocks and pave the ground for the container handling facility. The project is located in Mombasa Island in Makupa.
