In this issue: Appointments to the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board, the Brand Kenya Board, the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service, and the Export Promotion Council, and statutory meetings of the Nairobi and Kisumu Liquor Licensing Courts.

Appointments

President Mwai Kibaki has appointed Dr James Mwangi to a non executive Chairman of the Kenya Vision 2030 delivery board for a period of three years. The president has also appointed Michael Joseph, the CEO of Safaricom, Professor Agnes Wakesho Mwangombe, Peter Gakunu, Engineer John Cheruiyot, Professor Peter Wanyande, Abdi Mohamed Ahmed and Dr L.K. Sangale to be members of the 2030 vision delivery board for three years.

Hanningtone Joel Gaya was appointed to be a non-executive Chairman of the Brand Kenya Board for a period of three years, and Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta was appointed Chairman of the Kenya Wine Agencies Ltd for a period of three years.

ODM Kenya politician, Professor Julia Auma Ojiambo, has also been appointed as the Chairperson of the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service for three years and former Member of Parliament, Peter Njeru Ndwinga has been appointed as the Chairman of the Export Promotion Council for three years.

Nairobi Liquor Licensing Court

Notice is given that the statutory meeting of Nairobi Liquor Licensing Court will be held at the Provincial Commissioners boardroom, Nyayo House, fifth floor, on Thursday, 14 May 2009, at 10.00 am.

Applications for licenses to be considered in this meeting, whether new, transfer or removal and conversion of licenses, should be submitted on the prescribed forms with KES10 adhesive revenue stamp affixed on the original copy only and addressed to the Chairman, Nairobi Liquor Licensing Court, P.O. Box 30124, Nairobi, so as to reach him on or before 14 April 2009.

Late applications will only be accepted if received on or before 24 April 2009 on payment of a KES300 late application fees. Applicants for the meeting must appear in person or be represented by an advocate.

Kisumu West District Liquor Licensing Court

Notice is given that the next statutory meeting of Kisumu Liquor Licensing Court will be held in the District Commissioners office on Tuesday, 12 May 2009, at 10.00am.

Applications to be considered at this meeting for new, renewals, transfers or conversion should be submitted on the prescribed form, with KES20 adhesive revenue stamp affixed on the original copy only and addressed to the Chairman, Kisumu West Liquor Licensing Court , P.O. Box 4 , Paw Akuche, so as to reach him on or before 16 March 2009.

Late application will only be accepted if received on or before 9 April 2009 on payment of a KES 1,500 late application fee.

Applications for new, transfers, conversion or renewals of licenses must appear in person before the Liquor Licensing Court or be represented by an advocate. Applicants for renewals must attach copies of their current licenses and send their applications by registered post or deliver them by hand.

Invitation for Applications for Nomination as Commissioners to the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission

The secretary of the selection panel for Kenya 's Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission, Evans Monari, has published an invite for the posts of commissioners to the board. Pursuant to section 10 of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Act, applications are now being received from suitably qualified candidates, organisations or groups of persons proposing the nomination of any person who is a citizen of Kenya for nomination as commissioner under section 3 (1) of the Act.

To qualify for nomination as a commissioner, a person must have knowledge of and at least fifteen years experience in matters relating to human rights law, knowledge of and experience in forensic audit, investigations, psycho-sociology, anthropology and social relations, conflict management, religion or gender issues.

In addition, a person so qualified shall be required to prove that he/she is of good character and integrity, has not in any way involved, implicated, linked or associated with human rights violations of any kind or in any matter which is to be investigated under the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Act and shall be impartial in the performance of the functions of the commission and enjoy the confidence of the people of Kenya.

The applications must be received on or before 14 April 2009.
