Nairobi, 21 April 2011 --- Integrated telecommunications provider Telkom Kenya has ramped up its drive to attract and retain customers with a tariff cut as customer acquisition battles intensify in the market. The firm revised its post-paid tariffs structure: Off-net calls cost KES3 per minute, and on-net calls cost between KES2 and KES1 per minute depending on the monthly minimum spend.
Announcing the new development, Telkom Kenya Ltd Chief Executive Officer Mickael Ghossein said that the company had reviewed its post-paid tariffs in line with considerable interest shown by the corporate clientele keen to move their mobile lines to Orange.
“We currently have very attractive packages for our prepaid customers and today we deliver equally attractive packages to our corporate customers, hence giving more flexibility and value to all our customers,” said Ghossein.
Orange is focusing on growing its post paid data base by up to 50% in 2011 as the number portability exercise gains momentum. “Our experience from other countries has proven that subscribers on the post-paid network are more likely to port and by having the most competitive and value added tariffs in this market, we are confident that we will attract more customers to our network,” Ghossein added. To boost attraction to Orange postpaid service, the company also has a wide selection of devices available to postpaid customers, from basic handsets to smart phones and other high end devices including the IPhone 4G. Monthly access fee for most of the packages has been waived.
“We remain committed to innovating new products and focusing on better customer experience with our service and network quality to ensure they get value for their money,” Ghossein concluded.
The Orange Mobile network, with a growing subscriber base of 2.6m, is currently upgrading its network from 2G to 3G, with the anticipated launch date targeted before end of June this year.
