Nairobi, 18 May 2011 --- Safety and security solutions provider G4S Kenya is seeking up to 20 top graduates this year, in a move aimed at driving and accelerating its growth strategy over the next couple of years. This is among the measures to be instituted by the risk management solutions provider as part of its change management programme captured in the firm’s business strategy for 2011.

The graduate management trainee program (GMTP) is aimed at identifying suitable candidates in a range of disciplines to help drive the company’s risk management business, operations divisions and support functional roles like finance, human resources and IT among others.

“In our drive to be the most innovative and customer focused risk management solutions provider, we need to grow our team of talented and creative people and are looking for graduates with the potential to be the future leaders of our business. Graduates with passion, ambition, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to make a difference,” said Adam Miller, G4S Regional Managing Director Eastern Africa. Mr. Miller was speaking at a Nairobi hotel where he revealed the trainee programme was the first phase of a two-pronged Human Resource Development strategy that will culminate in a G4S Academy, specifically designed to develop a critical pool of security and risk management experts, to meet the company’s regional growth plans. G4S employs more than 15,000 people in the country and over 625,000 worldwide.

The programme seeks Kenyan graduates through an online application process after which the candidates will be screened and taken through a rigorous interview process and a range of qualitative and quantitative assessments alongside reference investigations. Successful candidates will then be inducted into the two year management trainee programme.

Trainees will receive extensive training on operational and management development courses that will enable them carry out and understand front-line work whilst equipping them with the requisite skills to become skilled and effective managers.

“After the two year training stint, the trainees will be listed within the company succession plan. Depending on their capability they will either be fast-tracked to the Management Advanced Program or continue to progress within the business”, said Epimach Maritim, G4S Human Resources & Change Director.

To meet the ever-growing demand for industry specific training and bridge the gap between the classroom and practical application, G4S also plans to work in partnership with some of the country’s leading universities in developing robust risk management courses that address the needs of the safety and security solutions industry.

“It is imperative that effective collaboration and partnership be instituted among educators, governments and business leaders to create and sustain an environment conducive to life-long learning that meets the business needs of the day. High quality education is essential to lay the foundation for future growth to address the continuously changing requirements of the workplace and assure the sustainable development and growth at all levels of the economy,” added Adam Miller.
