Nairobi, 22 July 2011 --- CIC Insurance Group has scooped seven awards in the just concluded annual Think Business Insurance Awards 2011. The Insurance Awards showcased top class performance and innovation. The awards, audited by PKF Eastern Africa; Accountants & Business Advisers, seek to structure and rationalize businesses in Kenya.
CIC Insurance Group, the leading co-operative insurer in the African region, won the awards for Best Training Initiative, Best Marketing Initiative, Best Composite Insurance Company 1st Runner-up, Best General Business Company 2nd Runner- up, Best Company in ICT 2nd Runner-up, Best Customer Service Innovation 2nd Runner-up and Best Company in Claims Settlement (Life) 2nd Runner-up of the year.
The recognition goes to underline the company’s clout in the insurance industry, its resolve to empower employees, drive its products uptake and its use of technological innovation in service delivery.
CIC Insurance Group has an internal training programme to continuously build employee capacities: “CIC Insurance Group is registered with Directorate of Industrial Training as an employer to facilitate refund for approved training with the registered trainers; we are also considerate of employees who want pursue further studies such as MBAs,” said Nelson Kuria, the Chief Executive Officer CIC Insurance Group.
The Insurance Awards showcased top class performance and innovation, they rewarded achievement and the organizers hope to raise standards in the industry. Among other categories, the awards honored top performers in Life Insurance, General Insurance, Composite Underwriter of the Year, The ICT Award and many other specialized areas.
Ochieng Oloo, Chief Executive Think Business, said the parameters used in the awards were meant to chart a direction for the industry’s growth. “Over the last one year pretax profits of the insurance industry have grown by 52%; we anticipate more growth next year,” said Oloo.
The awards are won on a combination of merits, including financial soundness, opinion polls, market research and professional assessments.
