Kenya: Press Releases: East African Breweries Makes New Board Appointments

Nairobi, 20 February 2012 --- The Board of East African Breweries Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Wakhungu-Githuku to the company’s Board of Directors. Ms Wakhungu-Githuku is the Founder and CEO of Human Performance Dynamics (HPD) Africa, an organisational development and human resources consulting firm based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Prior to this, Susan worked at the Coca-Cola Company and was until December 2008 the Eurasia & Africa Group Director for Coca-Cola University under which she was responsible for learning and development initiatives in 90 countries in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa and including fast growing markets of Russia, India, Turkey, South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.

A veritable global player, Ms Wakhungu-Githuku’s professional career spans over 25 years and includes a variety of functions that has seen her work in various disciplines, sectors and countries. She also serves on the boards of Zawadi Educational Trust and the Kenya Women’s Finance Trust where she leads the HR Committee.

The Board of East African Breweries Limited is also pleased to announce the appointment of Siobhan Moriarty to the company’s Board of Directors. Moriarty is a lawyer and currently holds the position of Associate General Counsel of Diageo plc and General Counsel for Diageo Europe Region.

Moriarty has worked in a variety of roles within Diageo including Corporate M&A Counsel and Regional Counsel, Ireland, before taking on responsibility for leadership of legal matters in Europe. She is currently a member of the Western Europe executive team and also has accountability for the Europe Region’s emerging markets of Russia and Eastern Europe and Turkey.

The above appointments follow an earlier announcement on East African Breweries Limited’s new Group Finance Director, Tracey Barnes, who also joins the company’s Board of Directors. Ms Barnes joins EABL from Diageo where she has had an international career in various markets within Diageo, among them Finance Director, Netherlands Hub, Senior Vice President Finance, America, and Supply & Finance Director, Diageo Ireland.

Until her appointment, Tracey was the Global Audit and Risk Director for Diageo covering Africa, Europe and Global Business Services.
